Corn-Free Hippie Ketchup
(Originally published on 3 Jan 2016 at https://CornFreeHippie.com)
This is my first ketchup recipe made to be free of corn and gluten. It is a favorite in our home because it is fresh, has enough spice and is not as sweet as commercially made ketchup. The fun part is that we can adjust some of the spices depending on our meals and the Mini-Foodies enjoy helping Mama out with measuring, but mostly with the tasting!
Ingredients
4.6 oz Trader Joe's tomato paste tube
1 - 2 Tbsp. coconut sugar
1 - 2 Tbsp. maple syrup
1 - 1 ½ Tbsp. coconut or apple cider vinegar
2/3 tsp. sea salt
2/3 cup water
1 - 2 tsp. garlic powder (optional)
1 tsp powdered mustard
¼ tsp. allspice
generous pinch of: ginger, cloves, nutmeg, paprika
Method
Place all ingredients in a pot.
Stir together.
Simmer over medium heat until ketchup thickens.
Store in a glass jar in refrigerator.
