Hot White Cacao
Hot White Cacao
Today’s post is another Singing Dog Vanilla recipe. It is not only vegan, but also paleo as well as free from corn, dairy, egg, gluten, tree nuts, peanuts and soy.
When most of us think of Hot Chocolate or Hot Cocao, we think of the brown hued beverage made with cacao powder. But what if we use the cacao butter rather than the powder? That is exactly what I did for this recipe & there is the option to use white chocolate chips if you have a safe-for-you-option. This is a rich and filling beverage and can yield anywhere from 2 large servnigs up to 6 smaller servings.

The Recipe
Ingredients
1 – 13.5 oz. full fat coconut milk
2 oz. cacao butter (or 4 oz. white chocolate chips)
4 tsp. honey (maple syrup or coconut sugar*)
2 ½ tsp. Singing Dog Vanilla Extract (or Singing Dog Vanilla Bean Paste)
pinch sea salt
Method
Combine all ingredients in medium saucepan heating over med-low heat.
Whisk frequently until cacao butter (or white chocolate chips) melt(s) completely without boiling.
Remove from heat & pour into mugs.
Optional: Serve with marshmallows, whipped (coconut) cream or (white) chocolate shavings.
Notes: * For a sweeter beverage, use up to 2 additional Tbsp. honey, maple syrup or sugar. If you use white chocolate chips, you may want to start with less sugar (2 Tbsp.) as the chips contain sugar.
** Due to the fat content in the cacao butter, you may see fat bubbles surface which is normal, or a film may form as the beverage cools, simply stir to remove the latter.
