Laughter Yoga (LY) is the concept where anyone can laugh for no reason without relying on humor, jokes or comedy.

  • We initiate laughter as an exercise in a group with eye contact & childlike playfulness, it soon turns into real & contagious laughter.

  • LY combines laughter exercises with yoga breathing bringing more oxygen to the body & the brain making one feel more energetic & healthier.

  • The concept of LY is based on a scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake & real laughter if done with willingness. One gets the same health benefits, whether laughter is real or simulated.

3  reasons why to participate in LY for maximum health benefits:

1. To get scientifically proven health benefits of laughter, we need to laugh continuously for at least for 10 - 15 minutes. In LY, we can prolong our laughter as long as we want bringing measurable physiological changes like oxygen levels in the blood, muscle relaxation, blood circulation & release of certain hormones in the body.

2. To reap the health benefits of laughter, it has to be loud & deep, coming from the diaphragm-a belly laugh. It might not be socially acceptable to laugh loudly, but a LY class provides a safe environment where one can laugh loudly & heartily without any social implication.

3. Natural laughter in general depends upon many reasons & conditions, but there are not many reasons which make us laugh. In LY we do not leave laughter to chance but do it intentionally.

5 Benefits of LY

1 Elevates Mood - releases endorphins

2 Health Benefits - reduces stress & strengthens the immune system

3 Business Benefits - Our brain needs 25% more oxygen to function optimally. LY can increase oxygen to our body & brain helping improve energy, efficiency & performance

4 Social Connector - brings people together

5 Laughing through Challenges - LY teaches to unconditional laugh so it can happen even when times are hard; it provides strength in adversity, a coping mechanism to help people keep a positive mental attitude
